The key differentiators:
Face material: T700 carbon fibre is a specific, performance-grade material. “Carbon composite” paddles at mid-range retail often use a lower-grade carbon layer over fibreglass, and the performance is meaningfully different from T700. When you pick up a T700 paddle and hit a few balls, the difference in feel and spin is immediately obvious.
Core thickness: 16mm EPP foam is on the thicker end for a performance paddle. Thicker cores absorb more impact, transmit less vibration to your arm, and give better control for soft shots and kitchen play. Most mid-range retail paddles use 13-14mm cores or aluminium honeycomb, and neither gives the same playing feel.
